A key construction milestone has been reached on CARGO Work, a stand-out Grade A workspace at Wapping Wharf, with a new flythrough film offering a sneak peek of how it could look.

With space for up to 230 people across 20,270 sq ft of cutting-edge office space, the striking new CARGO Work building is being created by award winning construction company Halsall within the stone walls of the disused J S Fry warehouse, which were formerly part of the old Bristol Gaol.

The steel frame is now complete and installation of the concrete floor slabs underway, with completion expected in the coming weeks. This work is paving the way for the creation of stylish, contemporary, open-plan offices which will include a glazed courtyard canopy, balconies and terraces to all floors with views across southern Bristol.

CARGO Work is suited to one organisation or a small number of organisations which will have the opportunity to work with the developer to fit out and finish according to their own creative vision, resulting in a bespoke, tailored working environment. Clad in upcycled shipping container components, giving it an industrial dockside feel, CARGO Work has been designed to be highly sustainable and low in energy use.

Wapping Wharf is already home to an array of independent shops, restaurants, cafes and lifestyle businesses on Bristol’s iconic harbourside, with this established and growing neighbourhood widely recognised for its eclectic food scene.

The creation of CARGO Work will represent the return of this long-derelict former warehouse site to commercial use. Set on the corner of Wapping Road and Cumberland Road, near the Louisiana Pub, the site has stood empty for many years.

Brise soleils prevent heat gain inside CARGO Work and photovoltaic roof panels take advantage of the building’s sunny position to create solar energy. It will include 47 secure bicycle racks and 7 parking spaces, as well as EV charging provision.
