‘The Ella Rose Fund’ named as Halsall’s charity of the year

Local mental illness charity, The Ella Rose Fund, set to benefit from thousands thanks to leading construction company.

Local mental illness charity fund, the Ella Rose Fund, is set to benefit from thousands of pounds, thanks to Halsall naming them their charity of the year for 2022/23.

The leading construction company and housebuilder, which raised over £10,000 for its previous charity of the year, Lisa’s Army UK and over £54,500 in the last 5 years, are now turning their attention to how they can boost funds for the Ella Rose Fund (administered by Quartet Community Foundation). Halsall have created a whole calendar of events including a beach litter picking day, golf day and a 2023 charity ball as their finale.

Newly established in 2021, the Ella Rose Fund is helping 18- to 30-year-olds suffering with Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder (EUPD, sometimes known as Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD)) and similar debilitating mental health conditions. The fund’s ongoing mission is to provide talking therapies and other support for the young people that need it during what is known to be a critical time in their lives and helping them survive and thrive. EUPD is getting more widely diagnosed, with many of those it affects becoming suicidal.  Sadly, this was the case with Ella.

With Halsall’s fundraising plans in place throughout 2022 and 2023, their aim is to raise a total of £20,000 for the fund. Halsall also have their own mental health and wellbeing support programme, helping employees who might need it and so the introduction of the charity couldn’t have come at a more suitable time.

Julia Voke, one of the founders of the Ella Rose Fund said: “Part of our role is to raise awareness of this type of mental illness and others so that everyone can have a better understanding of how serious and widespread it is. We have seen the work Halsall has done throughout their own mental health and wellbeing programme as well as what they have achieved in the past for other charities and so there is definitely a lot of synergy between Halsall and us.

We are extremely grateful to Halsall for choosing us as their Charity of the Year. The funds raised through the year(s) of activities will help us enormously to kick start our work in providing funds to support young people in their time of need. As a small charity fund, we rely heavily on the generosity of fundraisers and ensure that as much money as possible goes directly to those that need it.”

Andy Corp, Managing Director at Halsall said: “The Ella Rose Trust Fund is an extremely worthy charity. Today more and more people are suffering with mental health issues and sadly some lose their battle.

In our industry alone, almost 500 construction workers take their own lives every year and whilst awareness and support are increasing it is still woefully short of meeting the needs of those that suffer. Ella’s story shines a spotlight on how important it is to have the right support for every individual, and it invariably falls to charities like the Ella Rose Fund to make a real difference in helping those that so easily fall through the cracks in our traditional support systems.

We are passionate about our support for the Ella Rose Fund and knowing that the money we raise will go directly towards helping change someone’s life is something we are honoured to be a part of.”
