Acorn Property Group, Galliard Homes and Halsall Construction mark the topping out of the 113-home development in Bristol’s St. Werburghs.

Brooks Dye Works the £21 million (GDV) housing development, on the site of a former dye works in Bristol’s St Werburghs, has reached a landmark milestone, with the ‘topping out’ of the final tile on the last roof of the scheme.

The ‘Topping Out Ceremony’ was an exciting landmark for the scheme, which saw work begin on site on 2019. The ceremony was held on the roof of the new apartment block, the final phase of the scheme for construction, with the final tile signed by Andy Corp, Managing Director of Halsall and Robin Squire, Regional Managing Director at Acorn Property Group, before being hung in place.

During the topping out ceremony Andy Corp, Managing Director of Halsall commented “We are delighted to be working with Acorn and Galliard again on what is our flagship site. The new homes fit perfectly into the surrounding area, and we’re thrilled to be celebrating with our customers on this important milestone in the delivery of the scheme”.

Robin Squire, Regional Managing Director of Acorn Property Group said “We are proud to celebrate this key milestone. It’s fantastic to see this exciting project in Bristol come to life, working with Halsall to deliver a scheme which not only addresses the need for new homes in the area, but focuses on sustainability and wellbeing, by bringing a disused site back into use and improving access to public space for the local community.”

George Baffoe-Djan, Head of Strategic Partnerships at Galliard Homes said “Seeing the site today and how far it has come within the last few months is an achievement in itself. It’s been a great partnership between us all and I hope that we can work on similar development together in the future.”

During the topping out ceremony, Andy, Robin and George were joined by other employees heavily involved in the development of the site.

The residential scheme by Acorn Property Group and Galliard Homes, delivered by contractors Halsall Construction, offers one hundred and thirteen 1, 2, 3, and 4 bedroom homes.  The eighty-nine open market homes comprise of two-, three- and four-bedroom houses and one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, with the seventeen affordable homes, a mix of 1 and 2 bedroom apartments and seven 2 bedroom houses, having been purchased by Bristol City Council.

Centred around the local landmark chimney of the historic former Brooks Dye Works factory, the scheme is a key regeneration site in St Werburghs, which will also create new pedestrian routes and offer greater access to neighbouring Mina Park.

Halsall and Acorn Property Group have a long and established partnership in construction in the Southwest and this development is the latest of their schemes together.

Brooks Dye Works is expected to be completed in full in 2022 and 85% of the houses are now sold.
