Halsall raises £13,000 for Teenage Cancer Trust

Following just over a year of fundraising events, Halsall Construction is delighted to announce that the Business has raised £13,000 for its charity of the year, Teenage Cancer Trust.

Around 7 young people aged between 13 and 24 are diagnosed with cancer every day in the UK. They need expert treatment and support from the moment they are diagnosed. Teenage Cancer Trust is the only charity dedicated to making this happen.

The Charity is especially close to the heart of one of our team members – Ian Woodward. Ian’s son Thomas was diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma, cancer of the lymphatic system, when he was only 17 years old.

“When this happened, this was something that as a parent you hope you never have to deal with. Thomas’s reaction was simple: this is just a blip in my life and I have to get over it. For someone so young to have this attitude was remarkable.”

We are incredibly pleased that Thomas has now been in remission since December 2014 after having an intense period of chemotherapy.

The Team at Halsall has been busy arranging and participating in various activities. Events have included a charity football match, a charity golf day, a cycle ride, participants entered into the Bath Half Marathon and a planned sky dive.
