The project began with the demolition of the existing teaching block and administrative spaces. This was then replaced with a brand new, two-storey music block containing a state of the art recording studio as well as high quality practice and performance spaces.
We created two recording studios with RedNet Technology, two sound proof live rooms, a new MAC suite, an editing production suite, two specialist classrooms, five practice rooms for instrumental lessons and a secure instrument store.
Following the early and successful completion of the new two storey arts and general teaching accommodation facility, works commenced on the highest priority dilapidation elements with the College’s strategic maintenance plan.
We are extremely proud to have been apart of broadening the students opportunities. Due to the customer being satisfied with the works that took place and that this project was handed over four weeks early, we were asked to negotiate to complete the works on the new Arts Block for the same customer.
This building was specifically designed for the delivery of Curriculum 2000, the Government initiative to broaden the opportunities for A-level students.
This new music block was built to offer the best experience for students wanting to advance their music skills, we are proud to have been apart of this seamless build which will now cater for mainly students needs.
We hosted regular student site tours, this included showing students around the working site with the vision of inspiring students to consider an exciting career option in the field of development and construction.
Richard Huish is renowned for the talent of their music students and excellence of teaching across the music curriculum. Building the new music block means Richard Huish are able to provide students with ultra modern, well equipped and specialist teaching spaces for the students. Their investment in this building is a great endorsement of helping students excelling and achieving beyond expectations, we are very proud to have been able to construct something so important to the lives of students.

The project was originally estimated at £1.6m.
We spent time at the start of the project looking at ways to value engineer the building without detracting from the overall performance. We managed to get to an acceptable figure by bringing on board our supply chain and acoustician to look at products on the market that would achieve a high level of compliance to achieve the overall finish and performance. This process was well received by the client.
The College remained active while we were working on site.
Solid hoarding was erected, there was an amplitude of signage for optimum safety requirements. We held meetings with the client and project stakeholders on a daily and weekly basis to provide information about the construction activities and address any of their concerns.
